Before, During, and After Photographs

This picture shows the different restoration phases that took place on the frescoes. This particular photo is of the Azor-Sadoch lunette (one of fourteen).

These pictures are of the Asa-Iosaphat-Ioram lunette. The left one is a photograph of the lunette before any restorative work had been done. The right one is a photograph is of the lunette during cleaning, showing a drastic difference between the cleaned area and the yet-to-be clean area around it.

This photograph was taken by one of the restorers. It shows test areas for different kinds of cleaning solvents used on the Ioel-Plaque-Bearing Putto spandrel.

These images are of the Adam's hand in the Creation of Adam panel. Here is an example of the extreme restoration that had to be done. The crack was caused by the shifting of the chapel foundation. Restorers filled the crack in with a special type of acid free wax and then proceeded to clean the fresco.

This image shows the dramatic difference the cleaning makes. This particular image is from the Asa Severy.

This is another example of the difference the cleaning makes. This image is of the ignudo located above the Persian Sibyl panel.
